I am a Community owner with 11 servers running and I have the same feeling about it.
I don't really like the way Casual mode is handled and they should never implemented a useless level system period.
Most people click the big join button and it's easier for new people so I get why this was done and it was long coming.
The Community servers really went down with player numbers including mine with it sadly and most of the servers doing good are those 100% crits FREE ITEMS Orange tower which been there for years.
I run regular gamemodes with new maps which lean to the serious side and I got server who are customized to keep some dying gamemodes afloat, I am currently the only bot supported Stop that Tank provider and some other forgotten gamemodes.
And things like this and the Monopoly I mentioned is amazing and I got it running on servers like my Minigame server and High Quility maps.
You cant recapture that sort of thing easily though, and its a shame to see all modern games snub the server and focus on matchmaking. That said people just group up differently.
Owe to be a teen with time to burn again haha
There isn't many normal game modes with a funny game type of theme going on.
If you have a gamemode like KotH it would be themed accordingly and if the map is leaning towards an other game the map would be pushed towards a trade server nowedays.
Last month there was a guy who made a KotH Monypoly with working events, rolling the dice if a team captured the point.
Things like that always makes me happy to see, and you were one of the first ones in your teens!
And it's still rare to come by!
I am just chuffed that something i made as a young teen worked so well and then got pulled back up again.
If there was crazy interest i could make some improvements, but generally I would love to see another moving KOTH map. (haven't played TF2 in 6 years or so but haven't witnessed another)
Ok.
Did you create it and decided to upload it to the workshop now?
