Siptah Portal To Exile Lands - 0.3.24

Description
Right now this mod requires Siptah as it loads the Exiles Lands maps into another map and since Siptah is the only map out so far this only makes sense.



Understand this is NOT the Conan Exiles game. A server can only run ONE game at time. Think of a game as the database. Default one is game.db and Siptah is DLC_Siptah.db . This is just the Exiles Lands, Mobs and resources. A place to play.

This is still early stage, but proof of concept. Inspired by modding systems that allow map sharing and unique world construction (Atlas, Dark and Light, etc) by joining various maps together, we wanted to bring this functionality to Conan Exiles.

Future Thoughts
With something like this modders could add content to maps without editing them. Now anyone can add a Dungeon without conflicting with another one in a similar area. Even if a modder places something at the same physical location, with this the server/local game owner can move it. Making map mods much more flexible.

Instructions
  • Open admin panel and under build search for Exiles, there is a socle and a portal.
  • socle is what you return to from the Exile Lands. If you place more than 1 socle you will randomly end up at one upon return
  • Pippi portals work too
  • Place and play


FAQ
  • This is IMPOSSIBLE!!!! RAWR!! HOW CAN YOU DO THIS!! It's IMPOSSIBLE!!!!
    • I've heard "it's impossible" so many times in my career. My favorite was when the CTO of a company was explaining why something was impossible. While he explained this, I was typing, while looking at him. I didn't need to see the screen, I knew what I was doing. By the time he finished explaining why it was impossible, I pressed enter and put my hands in my lap. He looked at me and said "You just did it, didn't you" to which I replied "Yes" and showed him the code.
    • The world is filled with different people with various experience. Not everyone can think outside the box. Not everyone challenges things they are told. And that's ok.
  • Oh my god did you just load all of the Exiles Lands and Siptah on the same server!! Won't it LAG!
    • Well Mr/Mrs/Other Engineer, you must know more than me. Naht surah why ya axe'n me dat. (Said in Harley Quinn's voice) (It's no worse than playing the Exile Lands like you normally do and Epic has been working on UE for decades. But feel free to check out the GitHub source for Unreal, I'm sure it'll answer all your questions)
  • Will Journeys from Exiles work in Siptah?

    • No, that is the Exiles Game (game.db) we spoke of. This is just the levels.

  • Do the dungeons work?
    • Not yet, we need to find space for them. The problem is Siptah has world bounds check turned on. You have a limited space to work in. In that space, the Exiles Lands takes up about 80% and Siptah is about 60% of the total world area size.

  • Will this work with any map at some point?
    • That is the goal. To have a configurable world system, allowing local or servers to configure which maps to load and where to put them. Games like Atlas, Dark and Light and even Ark allow this in older versions of Unreal. (4.9)
    • But we are limited to only the scope of the mod kit and blueprints.
    • We can't change how high thralls and objects check for valid spawn (hard coded to 100,000)
    • We can't toggle off Check World Bounds on Siptah level as it's not modable.

  • What is this world bounds check?
    • Something that instantly kills the player if they are outside it.

  • Are there bugs?
    • Of course! We just moved mountains and there is only so much testing two can do.
    • We are releasing this in it's early state and it's been stable for us. Now we just need to play test (alot)

  • I found a bug, what do I do?
    • We have a dicussion for bugs.
    • Things that would really help are:
      • Screenshot
      • Server Logs (if on server)
      • Game Client Logs ( usually found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Conan Exiles\ConanSandbox\Saved\Logs called ConanSandbox.log )
      • Video! (super useful, window key G and you can record)

  • Out of curiousity, if Siptah is so big and the Exile Lands is so big, where did you put it?!?
    • 75,000 meters above Siptah. It barely clears the tower and only gives us a 25,000 meter ceiling. ( TeleportPlayer 0 0 75000 )

  • Does it work with the Exile Lands?
    • No, that'd be silly.

  • So how'd you do it?
    • We load a custom ConanSandbox and ConanSandbox_SOUND level. Any mod that edits these levels, will not have the changes loaded. (any other level is loaded as is, so map mods loaded before this may work. In theory.)
    • Wrote a dynamic height map LOD system. Still needs some fine tuning but works fairly well.
    • Created a few portals
    • And A LOT of testing to figure out the best optimized path.

  • Does it work with mod X?
    • We only know about the mods we use. Our list is posted in a dicussion thread below. Feel free to share your mod list and order.

Known Issues
  • Needs Remove Building Restrictions.
  • Sounds removed for now, they will need to be LOD with the rest of the Exile Lands
  • Mobs on Siptah due to Exile Lands being above you are having problems tracking you (100,000 hard code)
    • Want to avoid editing Funcom base code, for best compatibility and update survival.
    • Currently looking at ways to redirect mobs externally
  • Plants and eggs don't seem to work on Exile Lands, but other foliage resources do.
  • Missing Camp just south of the Sink Whole. Mobs are there, just props are not. TBD
