Luctor et Emergo II

Description
Luctor et Emergo (I struggle and rise to the surface)

During our efforts to stop global warming and after a breakthrough in geothermal energy, we had found a limitless source of energy without any ill effects on our environment - or so it seemed. The ever increasing amounts of heat drawn from the Earth cooled the planet's core. Not by much, but enough to cause the Earth to shrink slightly. With the same volume of sea water, but less surface available, sea levels rose dramatically. Land is now a scarce and valuable commodity, making large polder projects like this one a necessary undertaking.

One of these polders has been placed under your command. Assuming a satisfactory performance on your part, you may eventually find yourself governing the neighboring polders as well - something you may want to keep in mind regarding wastewater treatment. But don't get ahead of yourself; All natural resources have been depleted since long before this disaster struck, so you'll have to make due with the highly fertile former seabed.

In terms of infrastructure, for the most part that is also your responsibility. Already present are obviously the dams holding back about 8 meters of water. Furthermore you will find ample shipping lanes traversing the sea between the polders, several flight routes crossing through your airspace, 3-lane highways leading to and from your polder, as well as two double railways (we strongly suggest you keep cargo and passenger traffic separated).

Note: When starting a new game on this map, a small amount of water may wash over the dams. This water will dissipate within a minute or so. There may also be some visual gaps between the water and the dams. Both these issues do not occur when loading a savegame of this map.
