Protos-Class H.E.R.C.

First of all a big thank you to JD.Horx and High Ground for letting me share this. Although I placed every block myself, you'll see that a lot were translated over almost one for one.

The H.E.R.C. variant of the Protos-Class is capable of fulfilling it's duties of patroling and escorting for extended periods of time without the need to return to a base, shipyard, or station. Utilizing it's small hangar/cargo bay and it's rear landing pad the H.E.R.C. can have a compliment of small mining or salvage ships/drones. Fitted with a full size assembler and 2 basic refineries, it can handle all but the most drastic repairs.

Using it's combination of atmospheric, ion, and H2 engines the H.E.R.C. is capable of safely entering and exiting all known environments in system. With a theoretical lift capacity of 2,766 Tonnes, you will be able to carry an abundance of ammo, ice, and other supplies. It has been tested to break atmosphere of 1G planetary bodies with a load of 2,500 Tonnes only using 45% of H2 fuel stores (and H2 Generators turned off), and in 1.25G's with 2,000 Tonnes. To assist with conserving fuel while exiting gravity wells, the H.E.R.C. has software to carefully control throttle while ascending.

It is equiped with a devastating compliment of 4 Shatterpoint Rocket Turrets, which quickly chew through all but the toughest ships. Each fires 4 missiles per second resulting in a staggering 960 missiles per minute. The same hardpoints equipped with standard issue missile turrets show a meagre 360 missiles per minute. Shatterpoints run the latest cutting edge targeting software, capable of leading targets so that you always hit your mark. In addition there are 4 Gatling turrets, and a compliment of Point Defence turrets to take care of smaller craft and incoming missiles.

While not available during construction, the H.E.R.C. was developed with the installation of a defence shield in mind when one became available. As such, the power plant far exceeds its current needs.
