Kitahara Heavy Industries, a subsidiary of Kitahara Group, is a government contractor responsible for the supply of warships to the Novian Defence Forces. They also produce industrial ships for use in space construction and mining operations.

Their military product range spans Light Fighters to Cruisers and specialises in automated defenses at 360° coverage, as well as efficient use of limited space. While some manufacturers don't include crew accommodations and/or medical facilities due to efficiency concerns, KHI recognises the need for such in military vessels in respect to prolonged deployments and stay of personnel.

Since Cruisers need to be able to somewhat support independent deployment and operation, they in particular consistently feature mining facilities, as well as workshops. Other ship classes on the other hand, such as Frigates, are more often than not entirely purpose built.
