Daniel Bryan (NXT)

NXT debuted in early 2010 as a cross between a wrestling show and a reality competition. Rookies from FCW were paired up with pros from the WWE roster. The winner of the competition was to receive a title shot in the WWE.

Daniel Bryan, an indy darling, asked to be taken out of the competition during the first round of eliminations and told fans to check out his past matches under his real name. Right after the season ended, Bryan joined the rest of the NXT roster in an invasion of Monday Night Raw, attacking John Cena and establishing The Nexus as a dominant stable.

Bryan was fired from WWE as a result of his actions during the invasion. However, he was rehired and brought in by team captain Cena to take on The Nexus in a 7-on-7 tag match at SummerSlam.
