Description
NXT debuted in early 2010 as a cross between a wrestling show and a reality competition. Rookies from FCW were paired up with pros from the WWE roster. The winner of the competition was to receive a title shot in the WWE.

David Otunga, a Harvard-educated lawyer with connections to A-List stars, was the runner-up to winner Wade Barrett. Right after the season ended, Otunga joined the rest of the NXT roster in an invasion of Monday Night Raw, attacking John Cena and establishing The Nexus as a dominant stable.

As part of The Nexus, Otunga won tag team titles with Michael McGillicutty and (reluctantly) John Cena.
