FS ETR 250 / 300 EMU trains

Dopo il secondo conflitto mondiale, durante la ricostruzione, l'Italia aveva bisogno di treni di nuova concezione. Da questo nacque, nel 1952, il primo elettrotreno di lusso, l'ETR300. Venne soprannominato "settebello" , dal 7 di denari del gioco di carte, in segno di ammirazione. Era un mezzo rivoluzionario, capace di raggiungere una velocità considerata alta per l'epoca (160km/h), con aria condizionata e servizio ristorazione a bordo. Le vetture n.1 e 7 (testa e coda) presentavano un belvedere al posto della classica cabina di guida (che si trovava sull'imperiale): questo era accessibile dai viaggiatori. Le vetture n.2 e 6 erano delle carrozze a compartimenti da 10 posti, con poltrone e divani.
Nelle vetture centrali si trovava: il ristorante, la cucina ed il bagagliaio.
A partire dal 1960 vennero effettuate alcune modifiche, quali l'irrigidimento della cassa, l'installazione di fari di derivazione automobilistica e l'aggiunta di comparti viaggiatori all'interno della vettura bagagliaio.
Dal 1969, tutti gli elettrotreni ricevettero nuovi carrelli z1040 ed un potenziamento ai motori, che permise loro di raggiungere la velocità massima di 200km/h, considerata alta velocità.

L'arlecchino, versione ristretta del settebello, segue all'incirca la stessa storia del primo elettrotreno. Differenze sostanziali sono: presenza di un belvedere/bar nella carrozza 1 (solo prima serie. Dalla seconda serie, il belvedere diventa convenzionale), tappezzeria di diversi colori per ogni vettura e vettura servizi misti centrale.

Tutti questi treni sono stati demoliti, ad eccezione dell'ETR252 che è stato recentemente ristrutturato e dell'ETR302 che è in corso di restauro.

After the Second World War, during the reconstruction, Italy needed a new concept of trains. From this was born, in 1952, the first luxury electric train, the ETR300. He was nicknamed "settebello", from the 7 of coins of the card game, as a sign of admiration. It was a revolutionary vehicle, capable of reaching a speed considered high for the time (160km / h), with air conditioning and on-board catering. Cars 1 and 7 (head and tail) had a lookout instead of the classic cockpit (which was located on the imperial): this was accessible to travelers. Cars 2 and 6 were 10-seat compartment carriages with armchairs and sofas.
In the central cars there were: the restaurant, the kitchen and the trunk.
Some changes were made starting from 1960, such as the stiffening of the case, the installation of automotive-derived headlights and the addition of passenger compartments inside the car boot.
From 1969, all the electric trains received new Z1040 bogies and an upgrade to the engines, which allowed them to reach the maximum speed of 200km / h, considered high speed.

The harlequin, a restricted version of the settebello, follows roughly the same story as the first electric train. Substantial differences are: presence of a lookout / bar in carriage 1 (first series only. From the second series, the belvedere becomes conventional), upholstery of different colors for each car and central mixed service car.

All of these trains have been scrapped, with the exception of the ETR252 which has recently been refurbished and the ETR302 which is being restored.
