North American Freeway 5 Lane

Description

Introduction

This is a part of an American styled highway set. This includes a 5-lane, 1-way asset.

You can find more lane options, details, recommendations, and credits in the collection listed above.

Features

- Ground, elevated, bridge, and tunnel models.

- Rendered tunnels with tunnel lights that stay on during the day.

- Yellow lines always render on the correct side.

- American traffic lights and rail crossings.

- Narrower elevated and bridge segments. (Admittedly a personal preference based on local infrasturcture.)

- Asphalt texture depends mostly on your map theme. Lighter road textures will have more obvious "tire shadows" while darker roads textures will have more seamless nodes.

- Minimal prop use. I only included "functional" props like traffic lights and street lights. Signage, decals, etc are up to your preference.

@Greyflame Love your roads and was wondering if there was a chance for IMT line templates for your roads?

@Saurion - I can't make any changes unfortunately. Due to some technical reasons I wasn't familiar with when made them the first time, any changes I make now would break everyone's save games.

@Greyflame hey, any chance you could desaturate a bit the yellow lines? They look like radioactive orange, at least in my game.

@Jar - Yeah, I omitted the bridge and tunnel modes for asymmetric networks. I figured asymmetric bridges/tunnels are relatively rare and it saved me a lot of time and worry, haha.

@Creative - Unfortunately ... none. Each screenshot is entirely staged and it's just a flat void outside of them. The one technical exception is the diamond interchange in #4, which I put on a modified version of my Greenway map.

@hooty82 / Tiar/A - In retrospect I would do longer dashed lines. I decided on shorter ones mostly as a compromise with the game, since I found that longer ones often got "clipped short" where segments meet, but I wish I'd spent a little more time trying to fix that. Unfortunately I can't update these without breaking save games but if they ever patch that bug then I might redo that.

The only problem is that some of these are not able to be used as bridges. They simply do not have bridge models. Some of them do, however. It seems like the segments with a-symmetrical lanes cannot use elevation.

What map did you use for the background in each image?

I am unable to test these in the foreseeable future, as both my laptops can't play the game. It looks good for the most part but the while dashed lines appear to be a little shorter and a little closer together than they should be.

The Concrete Highway asset you used for inspiration has the correct dashed line dimensions but that asset is not American-style. This is the one of only two American-style freeway assets with five lanes I've ever seen in the game. I quit using the other one long ago.

I hope this does not discourage you, and I'm sorry for being picky. If I can either fix one of my my laptops or buy a new computer I will definitely use them.
