Village Plopper

Description
Plop villages without houses.
I made this mod to be able to create empty towns. I call them villages here. Because I wanted to design my own towns without the initial generator in the game.
I have placed it under Landscaping -> Assets -> Misc.

After you selected it, you can plop down where you want your villages to be. You can choose how many you want, and you can bulldoze them if you don't like where you put it.
When you have finished plopping, you have to make some selections on the menu window.
  • Chose which name table to use for your villages.
  • Next are which cargo items your building will require. Even though you create empty towns, if you let the game ai generate buildings they will have these requirements.
  • You can adjust the slider below the cargo items to set the size of the villages, below will say what kind of size the village will be. Empty is without buildings, but still two roads. Dwelling should have one building, etc.
  • The exclamation button (!) is an experimental option to create towns. It is able to create very large towns, so you may have trouble if you set it to max on a low end system.
  • The checkmark button you have to press to initiate the village creation. It will be active after you plopped down at least one item.

Notes and known issues
  • If you discover bugs, please say so, then I will see if it can be fixed.
  • Right now the asset used for the plopper is the games own old lamp. I will design my own at some point. As they are usually removed during village creation, it will not cause save game problems.
  • I will try to translate it to all the game languages. I want also try to create a transliteration routine for the village name tables.
  • More village names for other countries will come at some point. For both these and the translation I would be happy if someone wants to help. The names are not the same as in the game.
  • The first village can't be completely empty, that is a limitation set in the game.
  • If you have other ideas, or questions, feel free to tell me.

March update has caused an error with the size slider.

Good mod, thanks ! But when I create important cities and start the game, everything is dispawning to a medium-size (100-125) population target... How can I keep my cities big and running my game ? :'(

Is it possible to add to the save?

Forgot to tell you - have enjoyed the first village "plopping" a while back, works nicely!

Thank you!

Any mod disable the achievements. But there are mods for that as well.

Hi Superhai, thanks for the mod - I'm definitely going to test it. :twopointcured: A (probably) stupid question: Will running this mod disable Steam Achievements?

Great! I love workarounds - honestly. Will follow the good advice!

Half of my Microsoft life is finding my own ways of handling their programs to do what I want - building computers (assembling that is) since 1989 :).

Cheers

You have to use bulldozer and click on the names. If it does not work, you have to go in to the town info window and editor, and increase the numbers to at least over 100, then let the game run for a while, because it have to attach its own buildings to become bulldozable. After a building is being built, than you can use the bulldozer on the town name.

Many thanks! Bulldozing roads and buildings works, but the town name keeps lingering around. In one case of rebuilding a few times I had 5 town names with no town almost overlapping in the game. And also showing in the town list. Any idea how to get rid of those? Many thanks!

You can bulldoze a village (as any other town), but it need at least one building assigned. To trigger more development you have to change the town settings higher.
