Description
This is my first mod. I made it due to other states mods either lacking states I wanted, having too many states which were ultimately useless, or simply not being updated. The reason it is titled Basic States 3 is due to me making two other versions of this mod, before deciding to add more states, and before uploading to Steam. I have also incorporated mengele a go go's "Historical German GFX" mod into this one for historical and flavor aspects, and for the gfx files I take no credit and upon request by the author I shall remove them, but given in his description he states, "I take zero credit for the actual GFX work done here. This is simply a collage of others work meant for vanilla Hearts of Iron IV with Ironman Compatibility." I feel it is okay to merge my mod with his. That being said anyone is welcome to use my edited history, localisation, and map, files. I have about 3000 hours on this game and I welcome anyone to use my mod within theirs should they choose.

Also, my states are made up by existing provinces within the game, therefore they exist in the sense of "mostly accurate". Please do not comment that states are not perfectly accurate as I already realize this and have no desire to change the actual provinces in game. Example: "Eupen-Malmedy extends too far into Belgium!" or "New Cameroon is too big!" or "South Bucovina is more square!" I know and am aware of these inaccuracies, but to correct them I would have to change the game's provinces (the small territories that each state is made up of) which i neither know how to do or desire to learn. Furthermore, I have also run into issues with coding events to accommodate the states I have added. To counteract this, I have changed the cores of some countries to enable returning this territory to them through the occupied territory tab, rather than by event which I don't know how to do. Example: Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, and Croatia have cores on many parts of Yugoslavia to represent historical occupation/territory rather than actual ethnic populations. This way, rather than having a weird border gore looking Yugoslavia should Germany do "Fate of Yugoslavia" and choose to create the puppet/awarded territories, the German player should instead choose the "Annex all of Yugoslavia" option when presented the decision, then return the newly occupied territory to the other powers it wishes to have occupy them.

I will also state this is a Central Powers/Axis centric mod as I find these countries are most fun to play as. I have also categorized this mod as Alt-History to represent those core changes as well as the fact that I did change the state of "Northern Ireland" to "Ulster" and edited its borders to encompass all of the Ulster counties. I have also edited the borders of some base game states to reflect better historic regions and minimize border gore. I have mainly made this mod for my own use so therefore I will not make any drastic changes to it. However, if you think of a state that should be added please let me know and I will strongly consider/most likely add it. With this mod you can: Remake the borders of the German Empire (Including Colonies), Austria-Hungary, Kingdom of Hungary, Ottoman Empire, Greater Bulgaria, Sardinia-Piedmont Italian territories, More historically accurate axis occupied Europe, and much more!

This has spurred my consideration of restarting with less states and working up from there. As a one man mod team, this is a burden I carry alone. I am also kind of broke with school and my finances are not directed at purchasing HOI DLC, thereby I cannot work the new DLC content into my mod. Basically, until it is clear that paradox will not update HOI for a very long time, this game reaches its final version, or I graduate, I will not be working on this mod.

I hope this clears up any confusion and answers some questions. Thank you to everyone who enjoyed this mod and stayed with me through its development, and thank you to those who will stand by until I can return again in the future.

Starting from the ground up and working with a few states at a time might be what I have to do. Furthermore, it is required to time my mod updates with paradox as any changes they make to states will put the mod in a place where I have to re-code every previous change I made. This is something I can not do while in school and the reason I have stagnated development on this mod; anything I do is very likely to be null by the next paradox update. This is also why I have not updated this mod for so long. Through the dev diaries I could see paradox adding new states so if I did devote time to updating everything, by the time I finished the paradox update would be out and all that work would have been for nothing. 2/3

General Update/@adkane this mod has been out of date for a while and I don't plan to update it any time soon. I am very busy with university at the moment and my priorities are not currently HOI modding. Despite this, I would not say this mod is dead as I plan to update it when I have the time. The newest update added new states and essentially offset every state I made. The update for this mod needs a lot of work that I do not have time for right now. I may even make a new mod all together as I have learned a lot more about coding HOI i.e. focus trees, decisions, province editing, and can incorporate these new skills to fix some workarounds I used in this mod. 1/3

@PigFeeder101 so you'll make the new RK's after the no step back dlc? also maybe add a new releasables for russia or so, i kinda wanna remake a russian anarchy if i play as germany and win in barbarossa. mabe tatarstan, yakutia, buryatia.
