Description
In 2006, The Hurricane became fed up with his tag team partner, Rosey, during a losing streak. The former superhero ditched his mask and became Gregory Helms, a more serious competitor in the cruiserweight division.

Helms won the Smackdown-exclusive title as a Raw superstar at the Royal Rumble in 2006 and moved to the blue brand to defend his title. He held the title for over a full year before losing the belt to Chavo Guerrero in an 8-man match.

Shortly after losing the belt, Helms broke two vertebrae in his neck and missed a year and a half. When he returned to WWE, he returned to his Hurricane gimmick.
