ARC Ranger Hammerhead

The ARC Ranger Hammerhead is a T3 CV designed for use in both regular games of Empyrion and for the extra challenges of Reforged Eden.

The ARC (Apollo's Ranger Company) Ranger Hammerhead is designed as a early to middle game ship for Empyrion. It is based off the Hammerhead design by Spanj (link at the bottom) and is actually the first public conversion of another's work I have submitted to the workshop in my three years of playing. So why this ship and why should you want to use this ship in your games?

Why I had to do the Hammerhead

I've been a big fan of Spanj for some years and very much enjoy watching his Chilling and Building youtube show at the weekends and out of every design he has done, fell completely in love with the Hammerhead, it is for me one of the best looking and most unique visually looking designs on the workshop. Not only that the basic hull is for what you get really cheap and very easy to upgrade and convert for specific situations and mods. Which brings me nicely onto what my version of the Hammerhead actually does..

So why would I want this version in my games?

The Ranger Hammerhead is optimised for Reforged Eden and the unique and far harder than vanilla situations one might find themselves in while playing that module. Anyone who has played that module knows what a complete pain it is when one comes across space drones in your early game. With most early capitals and virtually all SV's an engagement with space drones will ruin your day and wreck your ship and hours of hard work in getting it built.

Not though the Ranger Hammerhead.

As I have been playing Reforged Eden for some months now I have found the work around to be T2 Shields and plenty of 'correctly' placed flak turrets to be the order of the day to bring victory. My version of the Hammerhead will slaughter drones piece meal and at the resource cost of only a converted starter vessel.

This will make your game a lot easier as a lot of Empyrion is being able to safely move around in space and you can't in a lot of early game CV's, but you can in this one.

Which is handy for its second really important function.... space mining.

In Empyrion, vanilla or reforged, space mining really is a lot faster and much more efficient way to mine compared to ground mining, if done so in a correctly set up CV. The Ranger Hammerhead comes with a drill turret so you can mine away at record speeds and in safety in your cheap to get capital ship, which opens the doors to getting something really advanced easier and faster down the line.

Feature Breakdown

1. With lots of guns, excellent gun coverage and T2 shields, the Ranger Hammerhead is easily able to hold its own versus the space drones that plague many space farers early adventures in space.
2. A dedicated mining turret lets you rip down resource asteroids really safely, letting you mine lots of resources quickly using the most mining efficient method in the game.
3. The original Hammerhead was built for speed and agility, Reforged Eden tends to knock down agility on almost all vanilla builds and the Hammerhead is no different, my version though has more thrust to compensate for Reforged Eden so this version of the Hammerhead is every bit as fast and agile as the original, as it should be.
4. A 320,000 volume input container that also serves as the ships harvest container, a 16,000 volume constructor output box, a 80,000 volume loot box and a 80,000 volume ammo hopper, comprises this ships storage.
5. Nine plot farm for growing ration packs and a food processor and fridge.
6. Over the original, the Ranger Hammerhead has a reinforced rear with all of its vital systems protected by combat steel blocks over regular steel, for that extra bit of protection where it matters the most.
7. The Ranger Hammerhead intentionally has just enough CPU room left to upgrade the regular warp drive to the advanced warp drive for those using this ship in Reforged Eden.
8. Finally the Ranger Hammerhead has enough thrust strength and is light enough to work at maximum effectiveness in High G environments.
