Description
(The only change here is the yellow cab roof which is present on the real 5212, but left out on the original re-skin due to lack of photographic resources).

Based on the real DXC 5212 as she looked on November 18th, 2020. This was the day when 5212 emerged from Hutt Workshops after a multi-month-long overhaul, during which time she was fitted with an upgraded prime mover that was originally intended for the DXE rebuild programme. This was a scheme to overhaul and upgrade 15 members of the DX class, complete with newer versions of the G.E. 7FDL-12 prime mover, complete with Electronic Fuel Injection or EFI. Other modifications included

The scheme was announced by KiwiRail in mid-2018, and DXC 5500 was taken into Hutt Workshops to serve as the prototype DXE. But as 2020 came in the project ran into cost over-runs and was cancelled, leaving 5500 as nothing more than the underframe, and it's unlikely this locomotive will ever return to service.

Thankfully all was not lost from the cancellation of the DXE programme. KiwiRail have now decided to just re-power some DX locomotives with the new 7FDL-12 Electronic Fuel Injection prime movers. In November 2020, DXC 5212 emerged from Hutt Workshops as the first of her class to receive an EFI lettering.

DXC 5212 was built by General Electric (along with 48 other classmates). 5212 specifically was built in 1975, and entered service in January 1976. She was originally numbered as DX 2619, not receiving her current number until 1978.

Today 5212 is still part of KiwiRail's fleet at 45 years old. After receiving the EFI prime mover the locomotive is now undergoing tests in the Wellington area, but I have no idea what she'll do or where she'll go when the tests are over.
