Description
It's here! The heavyweight set!

This project is over a year old. I started this when I first started out modeling, and it grew, and grew, and grew into a modular [for modders] set that has 6 different heavyweight cars.

A heavyweight passenger car got its name from its weight. These were much heavier than your standard passenger car, these provided a smooth ride for optimal comfort. They even used cement for the floor.

The Black Diamond prototypically used mini heavies, but these look better ;)

Types included:
  • Baggage
  • Diner
  • Coach
  • Parlor
  • Sleeper
  • Observation Business Class

Some cool things about them:
  • Interiors with details
  • Baggage car has visible load
  • Custom sounds by MrCheesecake
  • Couplers by Model Citizen
  • Group Listed under starter pack Pullmans
  • Start in 1915, Black Diamond available in 1937
  • Different price and capacity based on seating capacity in prototypes
  • 2k Textures to allow heavy use (eg: buy a metric ♥♥♥♥ ton) without overloading your average GPU
  • Couplers connect with MC's hoses appearing connected

Disclaimer:
These are just a generic pullman heavyweight set, to be used where ever you choose. It was made with reskinning in mind so many railroads could be represented. It is not based off one specific traincar, as many, many passenger cars differed in layout and style. So I grabbed what I saw on the internet and took ideas from that.

Credit to Ben Coifman of railfonts.com and Pete Willard of railsimstuff.com for all my fonts.

Planned Updates
  • Either in this mod or another, a combine, a second coach, RPO, and horse baggage car (80' long baggage car)

If you like my stuff, you can always help out and make a donation! Might help me get tools for this like new fonts and stuff!

I tried testing in a blank new game loaded the heavy pullman starter first and it still crashes:

LODs have been updated, fixed the name in the buy menu, added a different LV flag to the bd drumhead, added a mod menu image, updated the years and multiple other fixes.

Reducing the images sizes is next

Excellent, thanks for the explanation. Thumbs up (if I knew how)

Heavyweight refers to the weight of the coaches. These coaches were much heavier than the light weight cars that were on the streamlined trains. They usually had a smoother ride, and had in many instances cement flooring.

Why "Heavyweight"?
