SE - Helltaker (species test)

Description
So, you are probably thinking... What the hell?

I get that. Hence why I abandoned this mod a while ago.

However, many people are struggling to find out how to create a new species to have it work in the game. Given that I have created two species in this mod (well partial mod), I decided to upload it for people to use as a framework of what you need in order to create a species. All of the folders, graphics, files needed for a species (barebones) can be found here.

Also, if for whatever reason you like a Heaven and Helltaker set of animated portraits (clothing options as well), then here you go too.

Please check out my other mods if you happen to like this too.

Apologies, my old computer bricked and I wasn't able to test to ensure it was still working. That being said, a cursory test as I get back into Stellaris on my new one suggests it indeed is still working fine-ensure that you save the changes made to the 99_portraits_angels.txt file, and ensure that Steam doesn't validate it afterward because that'll revert the changes made. Also ensure you get *all* instances of hair_selector replaced with attachment_selector in the file.

Someone found a fix for the hair issue ? i can't make it work, i tried hiro's fix but it doesn't seem to work.

Is that fix still working Hiro? I'm unable to get it working on my end :(

Absolutely, I'm happy I was able to help!

Thank you so much for the reply! I got it fixed pretty easily with that help. Hopefully there are no issues added by the new update, because I know one of the updates is to make the Demonic Incursion playable, so I'm really glad to have this back to working.

2. After that, you'll want to find the file that handles that customization; in our case, the file we're looking for is 99_portraits_angels.txt. In this mod, that file will be down /gfx/portraits/portraits. Open that file up, preferably in Notepad++ or a similar program.

3. Once the file is open, you'll want to use a Find And Replace function to replace all instances of "hair_selector" with "attachment_selector", then save the file, and that's it, that's genuinely all there is to it!

After that, once the .txt file is saved, you can go ahead and run Stellaris as normal and it should work. Just be careful of Steam redownloading the mod, because that'll give you back the broken version of it. Unfortunately I don't know enough to know how to upload a fix onto the workshop to do that myself, and nobody else seems to have seen fit to, so until someone does we'll have to resort to manual fixes like this.

Little bit late, but I found this on another mod, credit to "jay" on this mod's comment section for the fix: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2310933502 . Can personally confirm it works, at least for 3.6.1. Just in case the comment gets buried I'll give a explanation here for anyone hopeful, the problem is that something got slightly renamed in how Stellaris handles portrait customization, but it's an easy fix:

1.For this particular mod, the first step is to find your Steam Worship folder on your computer for Stellaris. This should be under ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\. This mod's ID is 2293887360, so to fix this particular mod you'll want to go to ...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\281990\2293887360 in your file explorer.

I'm sad this isn't being updated anymore, but I can understand not being interested in the project anymore. It still works well except for hair and horns, which just grab and warp a hair design from another random species during creation.
