Description

I think The Butcher's Circus DLC does a better job at capturing the unique strengths (and weaknesses!) of some of the classes than the single player campaign does. So here we are!
This is part four of a small project aiming to make DD classes more similar to their Butcher's Circus counterparts, while also introducing some big changes where I felt they would better differentiate a class from the base game.

Circusy Crusader is a fully fledged support tank. He can provide decent heals and stress heals, buff his teammates, and deal good damage when needed. My aim was to emphasize these roles and give alternatives on how he plays without making him OP. He protecc, he attacc, he VULT!

I am pretty new to modding so any feedback is appreciated!



Circusy Crusader changelog (CoM patch), mod v1.2:

- base stats tweaked: less HP, less dodge, BUT armor upgrades give a fair bit of protection;
- base max dmg slightly lower, crit increased, +1 speed at later levels;
- resistances tweaked to match his BC version and his equipment (more vulnerable to blight, more resistant to bleed and move)
-> 2 new crit buffs: ignore 15% protection and +20% stress heal on the next move

Zealous Accusation
- buffed dmg (now -33% base similar to Butcher's Circus)
- debuffs frontline enemies for minus stun resistance for 2 turns
-> deals better with tanky frontline enemies, also stun synergy

Bulwark of Faith/Light (1 use per battle)
- protection buff for the whole team (as per Butcher's Circus)
- debuffs your team's speed for the duration of the fight
- decreases stun resistance on your team for 3 turns
- torch increase
-> powerful buff especially for longer boss battles, with a trade-off

Battle Heal
- now heals Crusader AND an ally for small amount just like in Butcher's Circus
- clears stun on ally
- increases debuff resistance on both characters
-> useful to get two characters off death's door and protect them from debuffs

Inspiring Cry
- now pure stress heal
- values increased slightly (still below Jester's inspiring tune)
- 5% virtue chance buff for a few turns (stacks to 10-15%)
-> best used on a stressed out character who is close to getting an affliction check (can be life-saving!)

I really love your approach to integrating reworked Circus elements into the Vanilla class design. It feels versatile and improved without making any of the Circusy classes feel OP.

Do you have designs to finish the remaining Vanilla classes in a similar style? If not, how would one go about making their own "Circusy" class tweaks?

Liking this version of the Crusader. The 61 Base HP will be missed, but the dual healing is much appreciated.

Love these changes, I feel like I'd want to use all of these skills at some point! Will definitely try him out in my next playthrough. Always looking for mods that flesh out the base game without adding too much stuff that feels out of place.
