Radio-Homing Player Rescue System - Antenna

Description
You have saved countless people who crashed their planes, cars, or boats, but who comes to save you when you are the one in trouble?

For the first time in Stormworks, when you flipped your boat, crashed your plane, set your car on fire, or ran out of fuel, when you radio for help, you will be saved.

**Note, antenna and shuttle are now separate vehicles, spawn in shuttle first, then spawn the antenna. The shuttle can be found here:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2305481731

Preparation:

Operation:
  • A single tap of the hand held radio, on the ground based antenna array's selected radio channel(default is 0) will summon the impulse shuttle to your location;
  • Wait for Impulse Shuttle to arrive and lower its harness;
  • Get in the orange harness and hold keyboard "2" key winch yourself up, wait for the bottom door to close automatically before exiting harness;
  • Get into pilot seat, enter GPS coordinates of where you want to go, and double tap the Autopilot button to your right

Limitations:
  • When you need a pick up, try to find a flat area if you are on land, or climb on top of your boat if you are in water, avoid using the system near sharp cliffs or wind turbines if possible;
  • Radio homing is extremely inaccurate if you are swimming, try to climb on top of your boat or make your way to shore before making the radio call;
  • Radio homing is more accurate close to sea level, but the impact is minor as long as you are not on the tallest mountain peaks;
  • Radio homing becomes less accurate when the handheld radio gets below 100% battery, recommend keeping one in a powered inventory slot to keep it charged;
  • Strongly advice against using a hand held radio below 90% battery for radio homing, where the range finder could be off by miles;
  • Avoid having the shuttle fly through the highest grade rain, as a lightning strike could cause it to lose power
  • Orange and above windspeeds may prevent the shuttle from entering a stable hover above the waypoint

Notes:
  • It's not necessary to board the shuttle to return to base, you can use it to put out fires or take some equipment off it and get back into your original vehicle, the shuttle will return to base after 10 minutes if you don't touch the autopilot controls;
  • The stationary antenna array is designed to be starter base friendly, after you park the Impulse Shuttle out of the dock, you can still use the dock to refit yourboats, though no new boats can be spawned until you despawn the antenna array;
  • You can use the arrow buttons on the antenna, and the keypad in the shuttle cockpit's right cabin wall to change the radio frequency to avoid interference with your other radio devices, note that only channels 0-8 that are available to the hand held radio can be used for radio homing;
  • If spawned in a hangar, you can use the tow ropes on the back of the Impulse Shuttle to tow the antenna array out of the hangar so it doesn't block further vehicle spawns. Recommend using Horizontal Thrust Ratio: 40% and move slowly while towing, control the pace using keyboard Up key;
  • If you move the antenna array, make sure that it sits on level ground, and the top of the array is above water;
  • Max range of radio homing is set to 45km, this is set by a slider in the microcontroller underneath the Huge Antenna, this is arbitrary rather than a real limit, but any further it would be best to set up another unit;
  • The triangulation antenna array outputs the X/Y coordinates of the previously broadcasting handheld radio, and can work with any autopiloting vehicle that is able to receive a waypoint by radio and automatically deploy harness at the waypoint, so you can take the antenna and make it work with your own helicopters;

Credits:
  • The idea of a vehicle that comes to save the player comes from numerous forum and discord complaints about no one coming to rescue the coast guard;
  • Radio triangulation system inspired by discord conversations with Illy, maker of the BUZZ cargo drone;
  • Impulse drive pods inspired by gcrtnst;
