Description
The Aether is a mid difficulty lower price destroyer that relies on a combination of APS and missiles for damage. It has two dual barrel rapid fire kinetic guns and 16 medium missiles. The built in weaknesses for this ship are weak gun armor, and having all the vital components of one type in one place. I hope you enjoy this relatively simple ship. It also has missile defenses, including a missile turret using my redesigned CIWS platform as a base.

If anyone has anything they want to submit to the faction with a similar style/level of detail as the rest of the craft, just message me.


On a side note, does anyone know how the actual difficulty levels for ships are decided?

Absolutely man, with this I've got all the ship variants I need to make carrier and battleship battle groups. All but 2 in the fleet are vessels you made, with some tweaks.

Don't sweat your workshop items not getting the attention you want them to, even if it does deserve it. I appreciate it, as do apparently a couple hundred other users who subscribe to your stuff, your ships consistently make the front page after all. Always looking forward to whatever you make.

Alright, stuffed a bunch of hydrofoils in the sides and front, added a stupidly big keel, and it works way better now! I also armored up the vital components a bit better and swapped out the deck guns for the 120mm ones on your mountain class cruiser, as well as tweaking the missiles and reworking the torps for offense.

This thing absolutely shreds now in the company of another vessel, though it can hold it's own on it's own. Also just wanna say I really appreciate you making warships based on actual ones that look great and are, or can be made, fully functional. I love them and I'm sure a bunch of other people do too!

Ok tried what you said, internal hydrofoils are showing promise! It's not rolling completely over anymore, though the front end is up quite high, gonna try adding a bigger keel to the front.

One good way of armoring is making a tunnel into the ship and setting the rudders up in there, but that may not be easy on this ship. Another method is just setting up a actual keel on the ship. Probably the best would be using internal hydrofoils if you don't feel bad about doing that

Hey I'm having some trouble with the Aether. I'm trying to rework it's balance so it's either not reliant on rudders to stay upright or the rudders are armored enough that a single HE round doesn't blow them all off and make the ship go sideways in the water. Neither method is going particularly well. Any suggestions?

The tether missile is a radar decoy that attracts radar, I'll warn you that this ship is for a custom campaign so it is intentionally nerfed, I recommend armoring it up a bit better and swapping out the guns possibly

Very cool ship, I needed a destroyer for my fleet and this might be it. It has an issue with going airborne at high speeds but I think I fixed it by tacking on a keel.

Question, what's the missile thing it shoots out and hangs in the air by a tether?
