Instead, something like transferring 2500 damage from the base to the stabilizer so that the stabilizer remains a vital part and weakpoint would be better.
HP/mass efficiency is better than armor pieces
You can see it well if you build a long ship, then have turning thrusters both on the ends and near the core: Only the outer ones will help to turn usually, even though if you removed the ends save for the inner part, the inner ones would help turn again.
The scaling of the block?
The thruster not thrusting when flying?
