LD-2 Idoru Dropship

In 1 collection by hvalross
Coyote Orbital Design Bureau: Division A
23 items
Description
NO MODS REQUIRED! This ship does not use any subgrids (hinges/rotors/pistons) and runs only two completely optional scripts.

Coyote Orbital continues to move towards a future with more planetary engagements, especially now as tensions rise server-wide over the valuable planetary resource iridium. This ship is another component of our planetary response, intended to scout planets and coordinate rapid fighter and ground responses (in survival MP on the SkunkWorks servers, as always).

While several DLCs are used on this blueprint, the DLC is not structural (doors, 1 lcd, rotating lights, barred windows). SotF is marked as required since the doors are likely an annoying part to replace.

pls liek nad subscrioob if yuo liek. i luv 2 know wat u thimk of my shipes

Specifications:
(Learn more by uploading .sbc file to SEPraisal[spaceengineerspraisal.net])
-Mass: 245,440 kg empty
-PCU: 17,517
-Blocks: 2,778 total
-Acceleration: Varies depending on atmosphere. For hydrogen: 0-100 m/s in approx. 9 seconds forwards, 14 seconds backwards, all other directions significantly slower.
-Scripts: Fancy Flight Info by Blargmode. This script is optional; due to its constant, large updates (or something, I'm not a geek) it is not recommended for multiplayer servers. It does however look VERY cool. Also Whip's Weapon Salvo Script; this is not required either, but again...fun and cool.

Controls:
Tab 1:
1-Fire reloadable rockets
2-Fire fixed gatling guns
3-Forward camera A
4-Forward camera B
5-Rear camera
6-Open/Close parachutes
7-On/Off toggle for reverse thrusters (let ship coast forwards while in gravity)
8-On/Off toggle for antennas
9-On/Off toggle for projector

Tab 2:
1-Auto/Recharge toggle for ship batteries
2-Stockpile On/Off toggle for hydrogen tanks
3-On/Off toggle for O2/H2 generators
4-Stockpile On/Off toggle for oxygen tank
5-Lock/Unlock toggle for landing gears
6-On/Off toggle for all ship connectors
7-Increase thrust override for forwards thrusters
8-Decrease thrust override for forwards thrusters
9-On/Off toggle for gatling turret

Description:
This fighter was created for Coyote Orbital (often referred to simply as COY) as a simple combatant with a focus on fights ranging from the surface of a planet, but able to launch from and operate in high altitude gravity wells. Hydrogen provides the majority of total acceleration, and while not required to fly on planets or in space it is at a significant disadvantage without hydrogen thrust. Fuel drains fairly quickly; the Idoru is best used on missions with long portions spent cruising with atmospheric upwards thrust, like scouting or brief assaults.

Styling was heavily influenced by elements of Taidyr's works (as usual lol) and the architectural style of structural functionalism; leaving some parts exposed helped keep the ship's profile smaller while not looking terrible...I hope. This increased vulnerability is compensated for by conveyor and thruster redundancies, with multiple conveyor lines running the length of the fighter and most thrusters having independent connections to the network.

The song in the name of this one is Idoru on Grimes' (banger) album Miss Anthropocene.

My slides were made with some editing in paint dot net, and the awesome logo is courtesy of Paralix (ty soooo much!). All screenshots are entirely vanilla; nor visual mods or filters were used. (nvidia ansel i loooove u)

No worries, you explained it perfectly = ) I don't see myself making any future changes to this one, but if in a few months I somehow end up back on survival servers and also use this ship I will be sure to fix the generator.

You don't need to apologize madame (this sound cool :D)
I was just telling you that problem, if you ever want to fix it before making any changes or rebuild part of the ship.
Just to be more specific, if you use ALT+F10 and click on the ship Grid (being admin/creative mode) and navigate through it (without using "Teleport Here" command, but just using the perspective), you can right click to remove the mentioned O2/H2 Generator.
Then you just need to remove some internal light armor parts near the battery (I think you just need 2) to reach a conveyor and replace them with small conveyors, so you can rebuild the O2/H2 Generator in place (flipping it 180° to let the small conveyor connect to the O2/H2 Generator) without needing to remove anything else or make big modification.

I tried to explain as I could, I'm not english and there are so much "space engineers technical" terms :D

@Baboo85 apologies about the O2/H2 generator, it's been a while since I've used this ship so I'm not super sure what happened there. I'm glad you were able to fix it though.
If memory serves, SCC A and B are in the cockpit. There are a pair outside air vents at the nose of the Idoru set to depressurize, and they are conveyored through the small cargo containers to a single vent (in the center of all the cockpit's HUD screens); this independently pressurizes the cockpit, if there is any oxygen in the surrounding environment.
The two small cargo containers are there to add detail--they're hidden because they aren't meant to be used. I didn't connect the cockpit vents to the rest of the Idoru's conveyor system because there wasn't much point removing armor to connect them to the rest of the ship.
Hope that helps...fly safe = )

I love this, but it seems I can't load the LD O2/H2 Generator B, LD Locked SCC A and LD Locked SCC B from any source (cargos, connectors, survival kit).
Removing random parts I find the generator on the bottom back of the ship and I made some fixes to connect to the rest of the ship.
Can't find the 2 small cargo though.

@notuseful yees borgar

@Taidyr Thanks! I'm honestly not very familiar with Halo stuff, so that's the main reason why it lacks that influence lol

That thing looks angry...
Kudos for making a dropship that is not trying to look like a Pelican.
