Kiruka's SPARK Class Overhaul For LWOTC (OLD, UNSUPPORTED)

Description
(This is the old version of the mod, from prior to LWOTC's Workshop release. It won't be supported or updated going forward. Click here for the new version.)

Those who play Long War of the Chosen with Mod Jam will be familiar with this SPARK ability tree. As I am removing Mechatronic Warfare from Mod Jam but want to keep the SPARK Class Overhaul from there intact in some form, I'm releasing it as a standalone mod. For those unfamiliar, you can view the tree here.[docs.google.com] There is one new ability in this mod (the same new one added by Mod Jam before; Mod Jam no longer includes this ability).

The SPARK starts with the Overdrive, Mechatronic, Reboot, and Repair abilities at Squire rank, and has 4 specializations in their main ability tree. They do not form bonds with other soldiers, gain AP or learn additional abilities from the Training Center.
  • Dreadnaught is your tank build, featuring a mix of abilities that can reduce the damage the SPARK takes, allow the SPARK to heal itself better, or punish the enemy for attacking the SPARK.

  • Heavy Metal is all about close combat, either right up in melee range or just slightly further away than that.

  • Future Combat is a support tree with capabilities that will vary depending on which secondary weapon you equip your SPARK with. The BIT shines the most here, but the Ordnance Launcher is a good choice as well.

  • War Machine is an offensive tree focused on shooting and Overwatch from mid to long range. Depending on which abilities you take from this specialization, the SPARK will shine when equipped with an Autocannon or a Heavy Cannon.

This mod changes localizations for Kinetic Strike (Mechatronic Warfare) and Manual Override (vanilla). The former's mentioned damage values are based on Mod Jam changes, so mess with it if you don't use Mod Jam.

Mod Requirements
  • The new ability, Master Blaster, requires Ketaros 2D Package to have its icon, and Ability Editor to add the extra charge for Bombard.

  • In addition to the requirements listed on the side, Long War of the Chosen is required.[www.nexusmods.com] You could repurpose this SPARK class for use with regular WOTC, but that would at the minimum require the LW2 Classes and Perks mod, plus a lot of restructuring of the classdata to swap out the LWOTC versions of skills with the LW2 Classes and Perks versions. This is entirely possible to do even without ModBuddy (just config edits), so don't ask me to do it for you.

  • Spark Arsenal is needed to give the Spark the Arsenal and Intrusion Protocol abilities when equipping a BIT. You could skip that mod if you just wanted to add those abilities yourself, but why would you ever skip out on Spark Arsenal?

  • While not at all a hard requirement, I highly recommend Mod Jam if you're a LWOTC player. This will integrate Spark Arsenal in a sensible manner, and includes other features like Assault Servos making the Kinetic Strike Module's Kinetic Strike attack non-turn-ending, and adding a Prototype Strike Module that you start the campaign with.

Known issues
  • If Long War of the Chosen's SPARK tree is not being overridden with this one, you may have to copy and paste the ranks from XComClassData.ini into LWOTC's, over the relevant SPARK lines there. This shouldn't be necessary, however.

Conflicts
  • There should be no conflicts to speak of.

Credits
  • Boundir for making the Ability Editor, which continues to be a huge time saver for me.

  • Ketaros for making the Ketaros 2D Package, which this mod uses an icon from.

If you don't see your name in the credits and think you should be there, let me know and I'll add you ASAP.

@Johnny_exe If you want to add the ability to a tree, it just looks like this:

(AbilityType=(AbilityName="MasterBlaster")), \\

Can someone help me insert MasterBlaster ability into ability tree, added everything but that one

Thank you for your quick reply, and yes. I totally overlooked the lines. Everything works like a charm now. Thanks!

@Rome172 If you didn't find the relevant Spark lines in LWOTC's XComClassData.ini, you didn't look hard enough. The Spark has a class entry right after the Psi Operative and before the faction soldier trio.

Hi Kiruka, i'm sorry but i'm a bit confused. I've got the known issue with the trees not showing up (also using your Mod Jam). I wasn't able to find relevant Spark lines in the XComClassData.ini of the LWOTC mod however. Just adding the lines from this mod XComClassData.ini doesn't seem to do the trick. Deleted my config and respecced a Spark to test, but unfortunately still only the original three treelines. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance!

@Selend Yep.

@エロ漫画先生 It could just be that the ability doesn't check for a matching weapon. It could be changed through something like Ability To Slot Reassignment.
