Description
This is my third realistic tank, it is 4:1 scale this time for proper levels of detail, with a COMPLETELY modelled interior. Designed based upon the Challenger 1 and Leopard 2, lore wise she was designed to replace her predecessor, the Hauptkampfmotorgeschütz I, which was simply the latest version of the 1940s Motorgeschütz III, being design to serve as a hull-down main battle tank from the ground up. This would not go to plan, as Austro-Daimler failed to provide the desired V12 engine (instead supplying a V10 based on an industrial engine of theirs), and the release of a heavy Soviet tank mid-way through development which necessitated the up-gunning from a 105mm to a 120mm gun, resulting in a cramped turret. As you can gather from the name, it was designed to be the main battle tank of the Austro-Hungarian army, which as a concept developed on from their medium tank concept in the form of the Motorgeschütz II onwards.

The Hauptkampfmotorgeschütz II "Monarch" was an Austro-Hungarian Main Battle Tank of the modern era. It was the product of a major development project undertaken by the numerous primary military industrial corporations within the Empire, such as Skoda Gun Works, Austro-Daimer, and many others.

By the early 1980s, the Austro-Hungarian Empire finds itself in the unenviable position of being surrounded by a myriad of strong potential rivals, and dealing with Southern unrest. While the Empire had spread its sphere of influence across the Balkans, and had even secured Constantinople for the Greeks, it found itself threatened on the North by a strong Russian Empire, on the West by a resurgent Germany, on the South by the ever belligerent Italy, and on the East by insurrections funded by Anatolia. Hence, it was decided it was time to develop a truly new vehicle, as opposed to the continual rehashes of the Motorgeschutz III dating back to the 1940s, to fit the needs of the present. This came in the form of a heavily armoured main battle tank designed around hull-down combat, to play to the advantages of the naturally defensive land borders of the Empire (featuring dense forests, steep mountain ranges, and various other such features convenient to the defensive army), and to keep to the doctrine of the Empire’s forces, that being of staunch defence as opposed to mobile offence.

However, the intent for a perfectly designed replacement for her predecessor’s hodgepodge of modernisations was not to be achieved. Early in the development of the Monarch, the decision was made to swap the planned 105mm gun (as was used in its predecessor) for a newly developed Skoda 120mm gun, in order to better meet the threat of recent Russian tank development. This resulted in a very cramped turret. Not only this, but Austro-Daimler failed to develop the intended V12 engine in time, and as a result instead developed a derivative of its already existing industrial V10, resulting in an underpowered vehicle. However, even cramped and underpowered as it was, it was leagues better than the Hauptkampfmotorgeschutz I, and would serve as a solid basis of later upgrade packages to extend its service life.

Hey, have you considered making the engine out of the Jet turbine engine using that new power generation piece they added recently? If you did that it would literally work just like an M-1 Abrams. I suppose you could have maybe 8 batteries and 8 electric engines power the wheels.

Didn't know that
Thanks for enlightening me :D

Nah, already got a German friend, and the name comes from the fact that the irl austro-hungarian tank designed in 1911 was called the motorgeschutz. Hence, that became the general term of "tank" or medium tank, for the AH empire. And as the main battle tank concept was developed from the medium tank concept, they just stuck "Hauptkampf" on the front.

So, if I am to suggest a name, it might be something like
"Schwerer Kampfpanzer" (heavy battle tank),
"Panzerkampfwagen" (armored fighting vehicle/battle tank) or
"Panzerselbstfahrgeschütz" (armored selfpropelled gun), if you want to stay true to the "motorized gun" meaning of your original name, but the term "selbstfahr" is usually reserved for selfpropelled artillery pieces and selfpropelled guns, rather than for fully grown battle tanks.

Of course, I didn't mean to offend you.
If you want, I can help you with some translations of names or terms.

Pretty cool model, I love the details :cozybethesda:

May I recommend a slightly better name?
To german speaking people, "Hauptkampfmotorgeschütz" may sound a bit clunky.

I assume, you meant something like "main selfpropelled gun" or "main fighting vehicle", but in some cases meanings of words in english might differ from their german translation.
For example most german WW1 and WW2 tanks were officially named "Panzerkampfwagen" which roughly translates to "armored fighting vehicle".

Interestingly, the word "Panzer" ist also used, to reffer to many kinds of armor in a wide sense of the word. For example, a turtles shell is also called "Panzer".

In everyday use, armored vehicles are simply reffered to as "Panzer", with various additions like for example "Kampfpanzer" for MBTs, or "Schützenpanzer" for infantry fighting vehicles.

Wow, this thing is amazing. The detail you gave to the interior and even the sound effects and look of the engine is very impressive. Love builds that give a life-like operators experience. Thank you for making this.
