Unique Trait: Liberal Regenerator
Adopting Social Policies boosts Production progress toward Courthouses, Happiness, Food, or Gold Buildings, depending on the greatest need. If a city has no Building to rush, receive Golden Age Points instead.

Unique Unit: Survey Yacht
The Survey Yacht replaces the Ironclad for Carlos I's Portugal. This unit is very much unlike the Ironclad, operating more akin to a recon unit than a naval combat unit. It can move at double the speed of an Ironclad when in ocean (as opposed to coast) and begins with +1 Sight. It does not require Coal to be constructed. Survey Yachets can also conduct the unique 'Survey Sea Life' on unimproved sea resources, generating a burst of Science after completion. The Survey Yacht is expended in the process, however. Use this unit to explore the scout the seas for science and culture and avoid combat at all costs.

Unique Building: Royal Aquarium
The Royal Aquarium replaces the Hotel for Portugal under Carlos I. Like the Hotel, the Royal Aquarium boosts a city's Tourism output, however, it also boosts the city's Culture output and is unlocked earlier, at Biology. Survey Yachts are built 50% faster in cities with a Royal Aquarium, increasing to 100% during a Golden Age. Pair Royal Aquariums with your Survey Yachts to generate a steady stream of science from your oceanic surveys.
