Hermes Mk-I

Description
NOTE: Not Safe For Survival mode and Lots of Internal engines on this beast - new update will thrash the aft section of the vessel. Might do a refit/fix another time. For now, this is really just for show- I would suggest NOT flying around!
---------------------------------------------------------

Here's my first space engineers build (and first workshop thing ever), so, please forgive (and notate) if there are amateurish/missing/poorly done things:

"Hermes" class Deepspace Survey Vessel/Cargo Hauler Prototype.

This was a ship I had designed for a star wars pen n paper game many many many years ago. Space Engineers was the first time I ever got the chance to see the pen and paper concept molded in 3d :) t'was meant to be a commercially available ship with a wide range of customization options. Trade/cargo, small fighter carrier, deep space survey, etc.

She's not particularly pretty, but was designed (in my little fantasy world) to be function over asthetic. It's currently thin skinned with only light armor (designed it before Heavy Armor was available... or before I noticed it was available), and i still need to do some work on the escape pods & turrets to avoid them pulling loose and/or damaging the hull. Not really a combat ship. While the interior is fully formed, the rooms are not fully decorated/assigned.

Here are the specs:

The original design of the ship had area for landing gear and for the forward bulkheads of the Port & Starboard cargo bays to open up as ramps to allow cargo to easily be moved onto and off of the ship. However, I built this model before the addition of rotors, so perhaps, in an updated build, i'll add them.

There are a lot of fun little areas to find, especially in the aft of the ship in and around engineering. There are a lot of interior lighting fixtures, so hopefully it won't chug too hard for you.

Additionally, I added a few fighter craft - just things i was playing with. If someone has an idea or way for me to get those escape pods locked down, i'd welcome the suggestions! Enjoy.

Ha... thanks. I wanted it to be utilitarian: something produced by a big company that was meant to be modular and easy/cheap to assemble. I'm currently working on an updated version- and taking a stab at making it functional in survival (with all the tubes, bells, whistles, bulkheads, doors, engines, available). We'll see how that works!

It's got a nice chunky clunky super armoured look that I like.

I think it's a great looking ship. Sorta like two double-deck buses parked beside one another.

Oh, wow, thanks. I keep seeing things I'm not happy with... but it was a way to learn the game and test some build theories. I reeeeely want to figure out a way to build retractable landing gear and have the forward section bulkheads in the cargo bays open into loading ramps... heh, also wanna go back over and re-skin with heavy armor- though the ship is already sluggish enough as it is :)

This ship is just perfectly made, you pretty much thought of everything and haven't missed even one part. well done.
