I had a rotator as azimuth and hinge facing up not forward which I think was the problem. It kept flipping upside down when entering camera and becoming permanently stuck.
I'm gonna rebuild the turret on this one and the other one.

Use a rotator for azimuth and a hinge facing up for elevation.
Move the elevation's geometry forward, so it won't clip when you're facing up.
Think of its construction like a classic tank or a battleship turret.
