Description
Alexander the Great may have built an empire that would ensure his fame for millennia, but he would be nothing without the hard work of his father, Philip II. Philip radically reinvented the Macedonian military, transforming it from an unimpressive force into a terror that could butcher the best armies in Greece. In turn, he elevated the Kingdom of Macedon from a backwoods barbarian kingdom to the dominant geopolitical force in Greece, one that would unite most of the peninsula under the League of Corinth, with Philip as its Hegemon. In the real world, Philip II’s ambitions were cut short by a mysterious assassination, but in this mod, you can give him the glorious empire he deserved.

UA: Greco-Barbarian Innovation - Upgrading units is cheaper. Upgrading units provides science towards a military technology and production towards that type of unit in the capital.

UU1: Pezhetairos - An anti-cavalry unit between the Spearman and Pikeman. Unlocked at Bronze Working, but can only be obtained by upgrading Spearmen. +33% strength against non-mounted melee units as well. Keeps this promotion on upgrade.

UU2: Sarissophoros - A mounted unit between the Horseman and Knight. Unlocked at Horseback Riding, but can only be obtained by upgrading Horsemen. Strong against mounted units. Enemy Units that end their turn adjacent to a Sarissophoros will have -1 Movement on their next turn. Keep these promotions on upgrade.

For Philip II, the name of the game is snowballing. Build units so you can upgrade them later, helping you build more units faster and bringing you closer to discovering later upgrades, which you then apply to your larger army, etc, etc. But just as a real snowball requires a push to grow, Macedon requires its own sustaining force: Gold. Unfortunately for Philip, his uniques don’t help with that at all, and a large army is expensive to maintain. Thus, your mission is to stuff your reserves as much as possible, both through clever diplomacy and vicious conquest. The best time to conquer profitable cities is when your UUs are available. These two are incredibly powerful tools that will make most foes crumple, at the cost of some gold and a turn in friendly territory per unit.

Compatible with YNAEMP. TSL is Pella.

For the record, I tested his UA, and it seems like the research bonus component of his UA doesn't work, at least on Community Patch: it seems like GetFreePromotionsCount doesn't exist in CP, as I see that method in the modiki

I'd think this isn't a problem if you aren't using CP or mods without a unique unit class with no default unit (as that turned out a error as well in
local pUnit = GameInfo.Units[iClass.DefaultUnit]
), but unfortunately I wasn't so lucky, so I've made a few changes to make them work in such settings for personal use.

Is there a direct link anywhere by chance? Weirdly cannot get this to download. Tried a bunch of times. Clearly it's working for others.

ALL HAIL MAKEDONIA!

A nitpick on the Pezhetairoi icon (as the icon looks more like a Hypaspistes), but still, glory to Makedonia and the Hellenistic era which it brought!
