Automatic Master/Slave System (Works with Diesel and Diesel-Electric Trains)

Description
You can use diesel, diesel electric and electric trains together! I recommend automating your clutch for diesel trains if used with other types.

Use any amount of trains you want, the limit is your cpu!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This system automatically determines the position of slave locomotives relative to the master locomotive and adjust the throttle accordingly.

If you connect the composites on your non locomotive cars together, you can also use a locomotive wherever you want (in the middle of the cars or in the end of them)

You need to select which reverse mode you are using on the microcontroller, or else reverse may not function properly!

You can change composite channels by selecting the microcontroller to suit your needs.

I would recommend configuring your diesel engine controller for diesel trains like this:
Throttle lever > Master/slave controller > Engine controller > Engine throttle
or else your engine may not function properly.

Everything you need to know is written on the nodes.
If you still have questions, feel free to ask, and let me know if you encounter any problems.
Please check if the microcontroller says "Version 1.1" below the reverse method selection before posting any issues.

@lhsmithnet that does not sound good, though I don't play stormworks anymore so that will probably not be fixed by me

hi, for some reason this does not work on more than 2 trains- once you hook up more than 2, the 3rd and beyond wont be controlled. i used this controller before and it worked so something must have broke with an update

@Cam it has been a while so I don’t remember much but yeah probably

can this work on driven rolling stock?

@Skully

If you are asking how to send the button press through the connectors, you can connect the instrument panel to composite input front/rear nodes on the controller.

You also need to convert composite output front/rear into on/off signal,
connect both to an or gate,
connect its output to another or gate with the starter button on your train.

I got it to work. But what if I want to activate a button on the slave train that's on an instrument panel? I have an engine starter button there that I want to activate from the master train

Urk! now everyone has an incompatible standard. =0 First there was the Donkk TCC, which was very simple but basically worked, then there was SRC-TCP that was very advanced but incomprehensible and not usable in its current form. I was kicked off their discord so I developed my own suite of controllers (see my workshop), now I came across a build using your controller that is incompatible with mine and I'm like (!!!).

Also note that master button should be on at all times if not a slave locomotive. If you want stuff compact you can use an instrument panel too, there is a composite node for that on the microcontroller.

@kitten did you check the example? Also note the gearbox/electric motor setting on the microcontroller, may be set to gearbox by default.

didnt seem to work on either loco i have put it on, one is a shunter and one is a sd-45, both are diesel electric, the only part that seems to work is the passthrough that i use to auto start my other engine
