Description
This mod adds the Mixtecs of central Mexico, under legendary conqueror Eight Deer Jaguar Claw, to the game!

Requires Brave New World.

Mixtecs - Eight Deer

Sacred Skins: Conquering a Capital or City-State for the first time grants a free Great Person of your choice. Upon the outbreak of war, Great Person Tile Improvements spawn military units.

Zandaru: Unique Spearman for the Mixtecs. Gains a Siege bonus when on or adjacent to a Great Person. Kills and City Captures by a Zandaru provide Great Writer points.

Chàa Chii: Replacing the Great Writer for the Mixtecs, the Chàa Chii creates unique Great Works of Writing but cannot be expended for a Political Treatise; instead, it may be used to construct an Academy or Holy Site.


Includes mod support for Historical Religions, UCI, Cultural Diversity, and JFDLC.

Seems like a pretty fun mod! But two things don't seem to work... 1. i had war declared on me AND i declared war, with an academy in my land. I didn't get any units. 2. I don't seem to get any free writer points on kills.
but I didn't get any crashes (so far) like others are saying when using the unique writer, so that's good!

Really cool civ, but unfortunately it crashes consistently enough that I can't play a full game with it.

In my experience the issue is that the game crashes consistently whenever I acquire a Chaa Chii unit. I've attempted four to five separate games, but it's happened every time. Either the game crashes when I try to move the unit or it crashes when attempting to progress to the next turn after the Chaa Chii spawned. In one instance I expended the unit immediately to create an academy, but the game still crashed when loading the next turn.

Hopefully this info will help narrow down what's causing the problem. I would love to play the mod working fully as intended.

Btw, the civ icon is probably one of my favorites from all the modded civs I've seen.

I had high hopes for this mod, but game crashes when I try to move the Chaa Chii.

great idea for a mod but my copy of civilization crashes when i use this mod and declare war :(

There's already a great Olmec mod by Leugi, and I know that other quality modders have got the Toltecs and Tarascans in their to-do lists somewhere down the line. I don't think anyone's got the Totonacs planned, but I think there is a Teotihuacan planned. As for me, I don't think I've got any other Mesoamerican civs I personally want to do in the near-future, as the Mixtecs just came as a spur-of-the-moment type inspiration. It may or may not have been because I listened to a folk metal song about Eight Deer Jaguar Claw.
