Description
Aurora Mk II

Lore

During peace times, the Aurora had served as an adequate cargo ship, with 4 large containers it was very useful for hauling around large amounts of components. After wars breakout, Auroras were targeted for their valuable cargo. They also had to perform Lunar landings more often as stations were being lost.

To help her in her role, a Mk II was issued. Featuring more lifting thrust for large payloads, better turn rates, landing gear and better armament. A prototype Mk III was also made, removing the top nacelle and featuring tougher weaponry, though this is still being tested.

Description

I never realized how bad the Aurora Australis looked until I had to lay my eyes upon it again, upon seeing it, it physically damaged my eyes. I decided to get rid of all the 'spikey' bits and complete the look the original was going for, but ultimately failed. Hard.

The Mk II features more turrets, landing gear, more lifting thrust, more gyro control and an overall aesthetics overhaul. She is now a great vessel for carrying payloads around the system. She carries 4 large cargo containers, is powered by hydrogen thrust and uses ion as booster or emergency engines.
Reactor and battery powered.

if u use the water mod then collectors when in the water collect ice for hydrogen production

@Mantha 1. In lore they serve as 'scoops' for europas water moon, ships can fly through and scoop up water for hydrogen production but in vanilla they are just aesthetics 2. To activate reserve power, just use the 2nd control panel on the control seat, everything including the S.O.S is in there for emergency situations. 3 The ship has gyros, point them at the sun. 4. the ship is older and i didnt touch the grav gen so the field probably needs scaling down, but thats easy enough to do.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Questions & criticism:
Why are there collectors in the thruster nacelles? I assume aesthetics, but I've never seen that before.
Why did you make so many things hidden in the terminal? For instance, to activate the reserve power, you'd have to get out of the ship, go to the engineering section, and manually activate the battery. It's a bit inconvenient.
The oxygen farms aren't as exposed to sunlight as they could be. There's not many hours during the day that both are getting full exposure.
The gravity generator isn't tightened around the ship, I may have found that out by accidentally turning off my jetpack while outside the ship...

Other than that, awesome ship as always. Your ships continue to be the pinnacle of simplicity and functionality balanced with beauty!

That happens every time I look at one of my old builds lol. I see them and wonder how I could have allowed myself to build such ugliness...
