Class description
Corvettes (FS) are a class of small ocean going warships, forming the backbone of the auxillary and patrol fleet. Corvettes are subdivided into four styles: General purpose corvettes such as the Stalwart class, which are tasked with many of the escort and patrol duties. Torpedoboats, starting at the Vigilance class, which rely on high speeds and a large compliment of torpedoes to destroy subs and surface ships. These evolve into the subdestroyer class. Lastly, missile corvettes carry a heavy armament of medium to large missiles to destroy surface ships and heavy airships. These start with the Hunter class and evolve into the shipdestroyer class.
Submarines (SSN) are nuclear powered vessels designed for anti-ship and anti-sub operations. The class varies from small drones to large vessels. Being relatively underpowered for their cost, they rely on invisibility for survival.

The ship
The Hunter Mark II is designed to be an anti-surface and airship corvette. It is designated a corvette, but has all the properties of a Fast Attack Craft (FAC): Small, heavy missile capabilities and designed to work in packs with hit and run tactics. Lacking alround capabilities, its armament is specifically designed to work best against larger surface combatants than itself. Originally intended as an early game vessel which could punch well above its weight against foes such as the OW and DWG, it has proven to be a capable design which works well enough as a counter to most factions. The Hunter's stands at the basis of the Missile ship line, with the Executor class DD as direct successor.

Designwise, the Hunter combines the design characteristics of the MKI design with the Ax-bow design of other fast attack craft such as the Warspite class PB and the Vigilance class of corvette. The Hunter MKI was a more traditional design with conventional bow and dual (rising) launchers). Although it had potential, it lacked both the offensive punch and the speed to survive, with the launchers being exposed, susceptible to battle damage and the entire construction meaning a lot of potential space was wasted.

The MKII relies on agility, speed and shields to survive. Having a fairly compact design, its powerplant is small. The ship makes the most out of the available power however by use of local enforced shielding, depending on the position of the enemy ship on the battlefield.

In all: The Hunter MKII will be a more capable force against larger enemy ships than the likes of the Stalwart or Boxer classes, but will not be adequate against aircraft and powerless to stop submarines.
