Designed to be a starter ship, the Head Start is a decent little "Get me the hell outta here!" CV.
Primarily built to give a player a place to sleep, and be mobile. Throw it together after scrapping the Heidelberg, add whatever amenities you can afford, and you've got a decent little ship to get you out of the starter system, and start mining some resources for a bigger, better ship.
It's entirely steel, so if something comes for you, run, warp, or drop into/out of atmo, it won't last long.
