Description
Ever wandered into an Apex rebel camp and immediately had to turn your SFX to 0, because the combination of the flashing red light and the absolutely grating alarm noise gives you the worst migraine imaginable? I have. But no more! Now with Silent Alarms, the alarm noise will never play! Alarms will still connect to wiring and turn on/off as normal, but no more migraines. Hooray!

EDIT since I forgot to add this originally: this mod is also available on the Chucklefish Forums, and the source code is on GitHub! (Although all I did was delete one line of a lua file.)

How did I not search for or find this sooner?

Thank you for this. My supply of painkillers also thanks you.

@Pickle Gomer Actually, the opposite! Any sound that is actioned from the animator table in a Lua file is played to all players: internally, think of it as being "this sound is in this animation file" and "this script says to switch on the sound in the animation file". If you remove the call from the script, all players connected to the same server will no longer hear the sound because they won't receive the network information telling them that the sound has been switched on -- the animator is network-synched.

@Nightyngale (edit: Disregard this if you already read it, I misinterpreted the source of the sine wave function for the light colour.)

@JimBimBum Sorry this is so late! My computer kind of died for a bit and I'm just now reinstalling steam. This mod edits the existing alarm item, it doesn't add a new item - all existing alarms on planets and ships will be silenced as long as this mod is installed. If you want the original alarms back, just uninstall the mod. Hope this helps!
