Happy belated New Year! To celebrate 2021, here is a complete map of Ravenholm!

//Requirements//
Nothing should be required as it should all be packed into the bsp. The map file itself should be "gm_towncomplete", minus the quotation marks.

Do note that while no game should be required, the size and scope of the map might still cause issues for users on lower end PCs despite rigorous optimization. As well, be aware that despite attempts to prevent conflicts, other workshop items might still conflict with assets used in the map.

//Gameplay//
  • All d1_town maps added and mixed into a single map
  • Spawn room with the ability to: spawn hostile AIs, teleport to different parts of the map, unlock and use new areas not in the original maps, spawn in a Father Grigori AI on a perch in the middle of Ravenholm proper
  • All traps from the original maps are usable, including the spinning ones and the fire ones
  • Moving platforms from the original maps work
  • Fast zombies can use the drainage pipes to climb to the rooftops (this includes AIs that can be spawned through map buttons and ones spawned through Gmod's interface)
  • AI Nodes. Should work with almost all AI.
  • A few scripted explosion/physics events dotted around the map

While in the Gmod Sandbox mode, any dead bodies, blood stains, activated map scripts or other changes can be cleaned/reset using this: Pressing Q -> Utilities -> Admin -> Cleanup -> Cleanup Everything

//Development//
For a long time I had wanted to do a Ravenholm combined map. The idea makes so much sense given how small and connected the whole town felt. But I never got around doing it, in part due to lack of access to the maps.

Now that I have access to the maps, and some experience with combining maps and other larger maps, I finally took a stab at it. And boy was it a challenge.

The easiest part was combining everything. Optimization was difficult due in part to how connected it all is. I also encountered new errors I had not seen before including one that removed almost all of my lighting.

All in all, it was a great learning experience and well worth it.

//Closing//
Hopefully you enjoy the map. I plan to use it for a few variant maps. But that will be in a bit. I think I will return to the train station next...and maybe Black Mesa too.

Feels like it still needs the beta map with the dock merged in to be fully complete. The spot for it is still empty.
