Description
This is version 2 of the vanilla boreal map, OhMyKenai, which is located here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2403387430

This version, too, can be played without any DLC, mods, or other workshop assets. The only difference between the maps is that on v2, there is a small river which flows from the starting tile off the side of the map.

The reason I made this second version is this: having tested the first map to 50k population (using all DLC and plenty of mods and assets), I decided to try it vanilla. The first thing I noticed in so doing was that whereas on most vanilla runs, I am accustomed to dumping my sewage discretely into an appropriate place in the water system, on OhMyKenai, there just didn't seem to be a decent place.

So I made a place. Same map otherwise. Cheers.

Original Description:

Northeast of Homer, Alaska... West of Kenai Fjords National Park, and adjacent to Kenai Wilderness, we find this place.

In creating this map, I began with a real-world height-map generated by terrain.party.

222,333 out of the 250k tree limit are placed, so the map is fairly densely conifer-forested, yet you can still add more.

The map should play well using just 9 or 25 tiles, especially since all connections are available and resources are abundant (even on the starting tile). 81 tile players will discover the mountain of ore across the water and the massive oil field on one fringe corner.

In the waterways, the elusive tuna thrives!

All outside connections are present: 3-lane highway, plane, ship, and rail.

I used three workshop assets:

me22ca's 'Double Diamond Interchange' (see its workshop page for easy directions to improve lane mathematics by upgrading its ramps and/or through-ways) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2004965929

also 'Highspeed Train Triangle' by nicolas-blume

...and for the starting tile, a roundabout called '3 Lane Highway End' created by Yorkgrass.

Note that since these assets are made of vanilla parts, you do not need to subscribe to them in order to play this map.

It's a boreal map, of course, but I apply the temperate 'Monte Belo' theme by Mark Fire. I won't list the theme as a requirement, but I highly recommend it, as it downplays resource deposits and does wonders with the water.

I also like the Daylight Classic mod, which I configure in its Options panel *just* to restore the classic white sun color. I use Time Warp, too. You might also enjoy using the Environment Changer mod to switch climates on the load screen.

I have tested the [first version of the] map to 100k population so far. Videos of that test-run are available via the Youtube playlist linked on the sidebar of this page.

Any and all users of this map are cordially invited to share thoughts, screenshots, savegames, and whatnot in comments here.

Thanks. Enjoy!
