Description
Why made this
The role of flamethrowers in the MoW series is distorted.
It was configured as a weapon that has an over curved trajectory and throws a rough flame collider with an instant killing effect. On the one hand, that causes it to be underpowered: an AI flamethrower operator often shoots at random, then the flames hit nearby obstacles and burn the operator and his teammates. On the other hand, that causes it to be overpowered: the flamethrower works like a short-range mortar when it is under direct control, it can not only kill enemy soldiers protected by the cover but also destroy a heavy tank in seconds.
To avoid teamkilling behavior of AI flamethrower operator, DMS had disabled the flamethrower usage function of AI, and turn flamethrower infantry into a totally micro-control unit since Assault Squad 2 released.
As a result, the flamethrower in AS2 becomes a micro-control kamikaze weapon with good anti-tank capacity. The flamethrower team had to be limited the amount of buying and be set an high price in multiplayer. It's disappointing.
Also, the burning damage mechanism has not been changed since Faces of War, 2006. The flame comes with an invisible area of burning effect (6m radius), it always getting soldiers stuck and killing soldiers and vehicles somehow.
So this mod will try to make the flamethrower an assault weapon rather than an anti-tank or teamkilling weapon, with enabled flamethrower AI. And change the mechanism, let players can perceive and utilize the burning damage mechanism. Improve something should be improved but unimproved.

Features
  • Enabled flamethrower usage function of AI soldiers and vehicles.
  • Faster flame traveling speed, from 30m/s to 80m/s.
  • Added new flame effects, sound effects, soldier animations.
  • Improved burning damage mechanism:
    -Flame does damage to the hitpoint of soldiers, instead of instant killing soldiers somehow when touching them.
    -Flame can still knock out light vehicles (under 20 tonnes), but can not ignite heavy vehicles easily. A long-duration firing to the engine component is necessary for a flamethrower to knock out a heavy vehicle.
    -Flame can shock and blind the crew in the heavy vehicle when being thrown at the front armor. So flamethrower operator can assist others to neutralize a heavy target.
    -Flame does more damage to the target which is aimed by the flamethrower, but less to the victims it touches accidentally. It no longer burns ally soldiers to death in SP.
    -When hit ground, the flame will explode and turn to a visible burning area which can last for 2.5-20 seconds, AI soldier won't walk through the area.
    -Player can make a soldier move through the burning area under direct control mode, but taking burning damage.
  • Improved flame collider
    -Flames will be shot more precisely at target and not impact obstacles so easily.
    -Flames can go through windows and fences.
  • No more "Noclip" flames
    When you fire a flamethrower against a wall, the flames will never go through the wall and touch things behind the wall now.
  • Added a suicide-avoid mechanism for flamethrower operator.
    Fire will be disabled if there were some obstacles near 1 meter in the line of fire.
  • Added new flamethrower models
    US M1A1, British No.2, Soviet ROKS-2 and ROKS-3, German FmW35, Japanese Type100.
    Flamethrower units will receive these types of equipment in SP and MP. Supply trucks can also manufacture flamethrower kits and fuel tanks via clicking buttons.
  • Flamethrowers with different specs
    The weapon range and flame effect varied by different fuel filled in the fuel tank.
    Motor fuel (Stolen from vehicles): 20.5m.
    Premixed liquid fuel: 25.5m
    Thickened fuel: 27.5m
    Thin napalm fuel: 26.5m
    Thick napalm fuel: 28.5m
    The specs will change in real-time. If your soldier discarded his fuel tank filled with liquid fuel and picked up one filled with napalm. The range of his flamethrower will increase at once.
  • Some changes about MP
    Added new unit mode: Unlimited Flamethrower. Flamethrower infantries won't be limited the amount of buying and you can buy them at the start of a battle.
    Reduced cost for flamethrower infantries, from 75 MP to 65 MP.
    Added flamethrower infantries armed with thickened fuel to US, UK, USSR.

Try deactivating all mods, exit AS2. Go to the mods folder of AS2, delete the 2410408142 file. Then restart AS2.

bro, this mods make my game gone to be a bug, when the tanks open fire, an bug doesn't let me see and its very annoying considering this would be a very good mod

Hi. I've started using :-
Trench Warfare / Improved Fortification / Buildable Trench mod while hopefully waiting for your entities, if your still going ahead with them. However its having a strange effect with the flame graphics. If you can would it be possible for you to have a look.
