Galactic Technology Eras

Description
Mod is pretty much immune to game updates and will likely continue to work for the foreseeable future. Just ignore the warning that says the mod is out of date.

What it does:
Introduces technological eras that need to be progressed in before the next tier of technology can be researched.
Era progress is shared by all empires, and is made by researching rare repeating techs in each era. The tech gives a small influence and unity bonus upon completion.

What it's for:
I made this mod because technology snowballing is a huge problem in Stellaris. Having more research gets you more resources, which gets you more research. The intention of this mod is to slow down the progress of empires at the forefront of technology by giving them more techs they have to research while those with slow research don't have to. The hope is to keep things interesting by keeping everyone around the same level of technology.

Singleplayer/Multiplayer
While this mod does function in singleplayer, its focus is mainly intended for multiplayer to encourage more diverse playstyles.

Compatibility
This mod does not modify the vanilla tech files, but instead modifies the technology tier file
..\common\technology\tier\00_tier.txt
Makes no other file changes so should be compatible with most everything.

Not compatible with Ancient Cache of Technology (patch coming soon, maybe, probably never)

Things to keep in mind:
  • Some variables are stored on the original host empire, the mod might break if the host empire ceases to be. (has been changed)
  • The end game date might need to pushed back to account for the slowed research progress
  • There is no way to stop a tech from being researched through events. So if the galaxy enters a new era, you can just switch to researching a different tech.
  • Occasionally there is a visual bug where you can't see progress being made in the situation log. Haven't quite pinned down why this happens, but it seems to be purely visual.

Oh sweet! I tried doing something like this a while back, but I wasn't satisfied with the result. I'm definitely giving this a shot!

This mod is a really, seriously clever idea. It's a really elegant execution with big value for both theming and gameplay mechanic. Crazy.

Are all the techs in the five eras the same as the vanilla assignments?

just we didnt see what era we where i think its a multy bug because with same mods in single player we could see

@lucryatime Are you running Ancient Cache of Technologies? Apparently that mod also overrides the tier file so it is not compatible.

it seem that in multiplayer we cant see in what era we are im in t5 reactor its say fusion era
