Since transformators are heavy (up to 500 tonnes) they were transported by rail to the substations, hence the rail tracks in the building. W&R needs buildings to have road or at least path access, that's why the building is connected by road. I'm not sure if would be possible to add a railway connection (that would be without any use, just a cosmetic thing).
In real life, the access railway is sometimes deconstructed after the transformators are in place. Usually the rails are liftet and the embankment stays in place. Should the need arise, rails can be put in place again.
The method of "110kV embranchement" seems to work somewhat well also, in terms of simplifying buildings - wire ends as monument. It would also allow to mix different HV lines in a 'through' transformer.
