Performance Mod v3.1

Description
ABOUT
A mod that will try to increase performance when large objects are destroyed.
This is still in the works so please have this in mind when you rate the mod, and it would be better to ask on Discord first if it does not work for you so that it can be fixed.

USAGE, READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLING
To show the mod user interface you enter any level and hold the left ALT button down and then press the letter P (as default), if it does not work then press ESC on your keyboard and click on the button named Performance Mod at the bottom (you may need to scroll over this area to find it). If neither of the above works, make sure the mod is enabled in the main menu under mods and that you have not changed the default bind. If you still are confused contact me and I will assist you when I'm available.

If the user interface works you will find a few buttons on the left side (if none show, you have an outdated version of Teardown), these can be interacted with and be enabled or disabled. Enabled means that the module will try to make your game run faster, disabled means that this module will do nothing to optimize your game. You will be able to configure each module to your preference with buttons, sliders, and color pickers.

PLANNED
  • Control over fire. (Done)
  • Descriptive boxes. (Done)
  • Control over particle amounts.
  • Collision avoidance to reduce collision calculations.
  • Detour slow functions for better methods.
  • Benchmark with built-in level, statistics and score.
  • Custom community made modules.
  • Some form of render distance or LOD. (Experimental)
  • Despawn/stabilize timer on debris.
  • Fire despawns far away from player.
  • A way to hide certain UI elements.
  • Tools to locate the reason for low FPS.
  • Accurate FPS measurements
  • And much more, please contribute to the project on Github[github.com]

KNOWN ISSUES
  • No documentation on each button/slider, rework in-progress.
  • Quicksave and quickload will break the mod.

ASSISTANCE
If you need assistance with this mod you can contact me on my own discord server[discord.gg] or the official Teardown server[discord.com].
I'm not always awake so beware of 7-8 hour delays.

Thanks to everyone who supports the project, you can now contribute to it yourself here.[github.com]!
And a special thanks to early supporters like The Mafia, KV and Narcrate140!

Interesting, hope it works. :fumohappy:

Even if it decreases by just a bit that would be nice tbh. Dirt paths and when the vehicles start to smoke + exhaust smokes are my main concern. Maybe some kind of delay per particle spawn or particles despawning faster might work if possible but I'm unsure

Yeah, I'm not sure it would work even, but I had an idea to overload some functions e.g the ones in Teardown/data/script/fx.lua or similar. It would help a bit but may not fix everything.

I see, understandable. But is it really possible though? When I asked Murdoc for a built in one for the mod it seemed hard coded into the game engine. Even when following other guides or questions on removing the particles they were still there but invisible.

I am currently playing on an older build of the game with a semi-poor potato pc. The game has been playable for me as long as I remove the debris. play on maps with low lighting, shadows, and reflections + not have many things to render.

Thank you for the response though :LWN_Nobeta:

This mod is currently not being worked on but I have plans to maybe start working on it again. Time is however scarce right now.

Curious if this mod is still being worked on. I could use the "Control over particle amounts." feature when debugging Last Car Standing mod:fumohappy:

@stormyroads13 do you have the smart option enabled or disabled and what's the debris size that you're using? Try turning on the smart option and decrease the debris size.
