2012 Mod (v0.7a)

Description
Description:
A mod that mimics the original style of runner-zombies
from old pre-release alpha build of the game.

NOTE: This mod was obsoleted by the "Panic!" gamemode being reworked in recent content update, which more or less brings the gameplay to the same level with official re-introduction of runner zombies into the game.

I'm planning to update the mod to include its own set of zombie models that will not override the default game files, which will hopefully solve the file conflict problem. That would require me to recompile every single zombie model in the game using different filenames.


If you still want to try out this mod yourself, here is how to install it (assuming you know how to use console):
Load into the map (or connect to your server) and if you are admin, type "as_loadplugin 2012_mod_gamerules.as" into server's console (or your game console if you're hosting a P2P Lobby), then reload the map for the changes to apply.

Alternatively you can add the "2012_mod_gamerules.as" plugin that comes with the mod to your "default_plugins.json" file (located in "..\steamapps\common\Contagion\contagion";
check screenshot for example).

Without the script the mod is not gonna work properly.

Side note: It is recommended to play from the Lobby or in Singleplayer on "Easy" or "Normal" difficulties (of course you can try on higher difficulties if you want).

It will not work with Dedicated Servers for obvious reasons (at least I haven't tested that). It should be compatible with pretty much any maps out there (the difficulty may vary depending on individual maps, so be aware).

When playing from lobbies, make sure everyone has the mod installed and restart your game to avoid any issues.

I don't recommend joining public servers, while you have this mod enabled.


Known issues:
-Female zombies have bad animations, due to how their skeletons are setup resulting in a few specific animations being incorrectly translated to the skeleton.
-Sometimes movement speed of AI zombies doesn't match the animation that plays while zombie is moving. Happens only when player hasn't been spotted by AI and zombie only tracks the noise such as gunshots. This is a game bug that I can't fix myself.

Oh, I see. although I assume it is a mod or you simply modified the flashlight for your personal use, since I can't find anything similar in the workshop. Is there any chance of having the same result in my game?

@Scott It's a default flashlight texture from Half-Life 2.
