Future/Chonk Meggy (2021)

2020. February. Meggy Spletzer is about to win the Final Splatfest against the human-hating Killer Inks, in the name of the fallen Desti. She has the Leader at her mercy, about to get her gun back. But then, disaster. A sickening crunch rings through the arena as Leader stomps down hard on her knee, shattering her human leg. With Meggy down and nothing in the rules disqualifying them, the Killer Inks steamroll the others and claim victory.

The fallout is immense. Human and Inkling relations dissolve overnight and Humans are banned from setting foot in Inkopolis. Leader and co become superstars, enjoying their life of luxury. And as Meggy heals from her broken leg in her continuously vandalised apartment, she is haunted by memories of a vengeful shadow of Desti, eventually telling her she was always worthless be she Inkling or Human. Unable to bear the guilt of letting down everyone, Meggy abandons the crew and moves to a faraway city to live out her meaningless life in solitude.

A year passes before the crew is able to track her down again, and they find to their horror that Meggy has kept herself...busy, in the interim. Gorging herself on pizza and mindlessly watching awful daytime TV, they Meggy they knew was gone. And in her place lay a depressed and extremely chonky shut-in who barely recognised them.

Some time still has passed since then, and in the interim her friends have reestablished contact with her, alongside with some encouragement from a more successful parallel version of herself from another timeline. While still plagued by horrific memories of her past, this Meggy is slowly trying to change her life for the better; lose weight, become a chef and move on from her failure.
