Description
This mod simply allows Philip II to be selected as a leader for Portugal as well as for Spain. Enjoy!

I was inspired by a comment I saw somewhere, speculating that Philip II might become an alternate leader for Portugal, since at one point, he was King of Portugal; he even says as much in his introduction! I immediately fell in love with this idea and was thoroughly disappointed when Firaxis didn't do this themselves.

I too have a list of potential leaders leading other civs. I'll get around to a few of them some day.

I love this idea! I looked thru all the Civs in the game, and had a few more ideas.

You already have a mod for Philip II of Portugal, but he also ruled England as well. Technically his wife was the Queen, but during that reign, Coins needed to be minted with both of their faces, Parliament couldn’t be called without both monarchs present, and all legal documents had to be written in Latin or Spanish so that the King could read them.

Alexander was also crowned King of Greece, Egypt, and Persia; and Saladin was similarly crowned Sultan of Egypt. Under Victoria’s reign, Scotland and England were united into Great Britain, so she could also serve as ruler of Scotland.

Just checked. It works fine for me. I get the warning pop up telling me one or more of my leader choices are invalid if I try to choose both leaders.

The game doesn't recognize the "Philip of Portugal" as being the same Portuguese civ as Joao so even if you have the setting for duplicate civilizations flagged you can still have two Portuguese civs in the game.

I suppose you're right. I'll include that next time I update it.

Shouldn't he be Philip I? I think we was second in Spain but first in Portugal...

I think his capital should still be Madrid but his city list should have way more Portuguese cities

@Plati Agreed, I feel some leaders could easily represent more than one civilization based on their history.
