Part Six: His Queen's Heart of All Hearts

Drag after drag, night after night, you've smoked these bastard-fool peasants down the line; it's now trickled down to this final heat. Atrox's ratty pipes pop and spit. You aren't fooled by its deceptive sputters. Atrox is a fine-tuned machine that none can ever match. You're the exception. KALA calms your sundered soul and soothes your weary bones with its deep, loping idle.

The Grand Marshal toes the mark, his flags down and flush at his thighs. You rev KALA, rocking its carriage, palming the neutral, vibrating shifter. Atrox screams to life. You turn your head and eye the driver, the snake who set this Catastrophe in motion that took from you your sweet babe.

"Look at me, serpent." Alas, the snake pays you no mind and stares ahead, locked on and dialed in. Your king will soon take his eyes. You can stare into them when they're in your palms. This belly-crawler will soon suffer your wrath. The drunken rabble's gossip of him did not elude you, nor your king. The rabble crowds together shoulder-to-shoulder along the mile strip. The storm brewing on the horizon holds no sway over the spectators in awe of this grand-finale spectacle. If they're silent, you can't hear it. The GM raises his flags high.

You return your attention to the Grand Marshal, revving KALA to its red-line. Your king and your scouts await you at the finish.

The flags drop.

Pinned in the seat. Squared shoulders. Manic shifting. Freckles of light in your vision. 4th gear. Atrox is in your mirrors. 6th gear. The rabble-folk are a blur of a fading spectrum reel on your periphery. Your neck and jaw are cramping. 7th gear. Acid reflux boils up your esophagus. Your triceps are burning. Your teeth might explode. This race is all but won. The gods-damned Heart is flat-lined.

Indeed, it is not. This race is far from over. Your race has just begun.

In the last moments, you lift your foot off the accelerator. Atrox noses past you across the markers. You know the snake will head for the storm, but he won't expect you to follow. And towards the storm he flees. You down-shift and stomp the accelerator. Your king and your scouts fire up and fall in far behind you, but they can only assist you so far. They'll have to morse you. That's all they can do. It's in the storm where you will overtake and incapacitate. It's in the toxic churn that the proper race will ensue.

You hope your filtration system holds. It won't matter if it fails. You will take the snake's head to your king, and claim his eyes as trophies. You will sacrifice your worldly flesh, and die a rotten death in your last days for your slain bairn. You will die with a full heart, just as it was whence you brought him into this dying world, and first cradled his swaddled infancy against your chest.

Hot behind Atrox, you hammer steadfast into the churn. Behind your eyes, you see your grown babe smile. He smiles like your king.

KALA's Royal Wine paint parameters are H - 325, S - 100, B - 11, and Matte. Its rims are stock.

"Unrealistic wheel sizes" must be enabled in your options, oh Dark Lady of Time and Space.

KALA can be found in Junkyards, Auctions, and Barns.

CONFIGS REQUIRE A MANUAL INSTALL

1. Subscribe

2. Navigate to ...Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\645630\2456630476

3. Copy the bodyconfig3.txt and config3.txt files.

4. Navigate to ...Steam\steamapps\common\Car Mechanic Simulator 2018\cms2018_Data\StreamingAssets\Cars\BoltCape

5. Paste the two config files here. Configs must be named in numerical order! (Remember to rename these configs, only if you have multiple files, or just a single file, with the appropriate number, in accordance with your config files' numerical order.)
