He 162 Volksjäger [DLC]

Description
DLC UPDATE
Added two autocannons in the nose!

The Heinkel He 162 Volksjäger (German, "People's Fighter"), the name of a project of the Emergency Fighter Program design competition, was a German single-engine, jet-powered fighter aircraft fielded by the Luftwaffe in World War II. It was designed and built quickly and made primarily of wood as metals were in very short supply and prioritised for other aircraft. Volksjäger was the Reich Air Ministry's official name for the government design program competition won by the He 162 design. Other names given to the plane include Salamander, which was the codename of its construction program, and Spatz ("Sparrow"), which was the name given to the plane by Heinkel.

Start procedure:
-Turn on your Batterie and Instrumente
-Turn on your Kraftstoffpumpe and press Start
-Throttle up to about 30
-Release the brake. Taxi gently.
-Gyro is necessary for takeoff, dont turn it off yet
-Slowly add throttle so your nosegear doesnt collapse, but not too slow or you wont take off before the end of the runway.
-After takeoff, retract your Fahrwerk
-Turn off the gyro if you want, if so give your elevator a -0.15 trim for smooth and level flight.

Enjoy!

Lol! Did it eventually fly? I made this a long time ago, not sure if it still works as intended

Just downloaded it and glitched through the floor during take-off. Can't really say it's historically inacurate

Thats most likely because the center of thrust is above the center of lift (or in stormworks case, mass). I've had the same problem! What i did was placing the engine on a pivot, and angling it slightly upwards. (If you study my model you can see it) You could also put a function block with a -0.15 input between the gyro and the elevator to give it a permanent upwards trim.

I tried making one of these recently. Got any advice. Mine doesnt really want to go "up" but rather down, I must have made a design mistake.

It needs a long runway for the jets to spool up to sufficient thrust
