Okay, thank you for the permission to use your work. If I can't figure it out myself, I'll do that. I'll probably credit you for the help regardless. :)
Aha, okay, so I compared the unmodded settings to your mod's, and I think I've done it. I added headshot damage to the Brute's back as well, so both headshotting the head and back yields double damage. Alrighty, thanks for the help! I'll be publishing my mod soon. :D
As for how I did that: yes, you open the model file (.mdl), then go to "Collision editor". In the collision editor there are a number of cofigurations for different types of collisions, you can switch between them in the bottom right corner. These are "Default" (for movement collision), "Ragdoll", etc. You need to switch to "DamageMultiplierHulls", and you'll see the actual collision shapes used for registering damage. Selecting each of them, you should dig into the "Shape" parameter (on the left), and somewhere there you should find "Part params" and there the damage reduction/crit properties are specified.
Note that there's a weird bug that if you modify DamageMultiplierHulls collision while you have a level open with the enemy, the change will not update. You will need to either close and re-open the level, or press on the enemy model in the Puppet params and press the button "Reload" there.
Opening the Trooper_Brute.mch gives me just a blank file, so I figure I need to edit the collisions in the model file, right? I found a setting for "Zero damage sources" which I think is right, but you said you removed the armor collision entirely?
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks for this mod. It inspired me to learn some of the deeper stuff in the editor instead of waiting for others to do it for me. :)
These things were annoying as fuck the way they were.
I know you can damage them with any weapon from the back but you can rarely get around them to do that.
The only other option is explosives, but by the time I switch to an explosive weapon, they are already right in front of me, so using explosives at that range is suicide.
