Nimbus Light Transport

The Nimbus was designed to transport cargo around fringe worlds. As a result, it is well suited to atmospheric and space environments.

In atmosphere, the ship uses multidirectional thrusters for precise take-off and landing. A flexible cargo system including a rear ramp enables fast loading. In space, tow cables allow it to haul cargo beyond its internal capacity. An airlock is also present for EVA and docking.

Several modifications were made to extend the ship's operational range. Its size was reduced, allowing it to hitchhike on freighters to reduce fuel consumption. A long range comm. array allows it to navigate areas with limited comm. buoy coverage. In later versions, a medbay and teleportation system were installed to ensure the crew's well-being on long voyages.

The ship can withstand brief hostile encounters through its defense grid. Four supercharged shield generators provide passive defense. 2 laser batteries and 4 point defense turrets provide additional coverage at closer range. An external camera system further aids in threat assessment.

Unfortunately, the ship's high functionality proved to be its undoing. Deemed too expensive for mass production, only a limited number were ever made. The Nimbus is now a rare sight around fringe worlds. Locals who have taken a ride have remarked on the ship's smooth flight, likening it to sitting on a cloud.
