Mostly I like to play with Adjustable Battle Speed as I try out new army types as well as some options to add some lite RP capabilities.

Personally, for MCT settings

Vandy - Confederation Options - REQUIRES NEW MCT: I like to play with confederations off for all but Norsca (the ones from the dilemmas still work, so you can centralize power as the empire)

Militis - Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords - I set it for AI to gain lords from turn 0 and for it to be relationship based than major factions than minor. Its mostly to ensure that LL keep popping up throughout the game, ends up being a more subtle buff to strengthen factions than confederation.
