Fire support has always been an aspect of naval warfare in both space and planet-bound warfare. The Mjolnir fulfills the task of retrofitting railguns on a light ship for the purpose of supporting larger ones in long range combat. Should such a task be unneeded, these vessels preform a role they are far more reputable for. Its railguns exchange raw hitting power for rate of fire, allowing these ships to hammer enemy ground forces from orbit with a far lower risk of hitting friendly forces.
