Description
Chris Champion, formerly of The New Breed in FCW and JCP and Wild Side in CWA and the USA, debuted for WCW in 1993 as Yoshi Kwan. The name was supposedly going to be Yo Chi Kwan until it was pronounced as "Yoshi" by Tony Schiavone. The British-born Champion performed the gimmick with makeup on his face to make him appear to be Asian.

Kwan picked up several victories under the guidance of Harley Race before coming up short in a feud with Cactus Jack. He injured his knee shortly after and left WCW.

Champion continued to wrestle as Kwan for a few years on the indies as well as for FMW and USWA before abandoning the gimmick.
