The creation of iron amalgams has been a dream of alchemists and metallurgists, as there are only five pure amalgams in nature except for iron.
It was not long after the discovery of the Savard rearrangement via the interaction between triple bonds that this synthetic system was developed. Although the iron Savard reagent is very stable on its own, but Susceptible to the Savard rearrangement , and stabilizes even the most aggressive systems that directly triple bond reactive fire.
Fortunately, today we do not have to rely on such an unreliable reaction, but it is still the reaction that contributed most to the development of modern alchemy.
